Luxembourg Foreign Minister in Yerevan to Open Consulate
At a meeting today in Yerevan, Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian thanked Luxembourg’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Asselborn, who is in Armenia on an official visit, for his country’s 2015 recognition of the Armenian Genocide and for supporting measures to prevent genocides in the future.
Nalbandian thanked Luxembourg for supporting a bill, introduced by Armenia at last week’s U.N. Human Rights Council, on the 70th anniversary of the Convention to Prevent and Punish Genocide.
Minister Asselborn assured his Armenian counterpart that Luxembourg is interested in developing comprehensive cooperation with Armenia.
The two ministers also discussed the upcoming Francophonie Summit to be held in Armenia on October 10.
The two ministers then attended the official opening of the Luxembourg Consulate in Yerevan.
