
Yerevan: RA Human Rights Defender Visits Arrested MPs Davit Sanasaryan and Armen Grigoryan
Armenia's Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan today visited Armenian MPs Ararat Mirzoyan, Sasun Mikayelyan, David Sanasaryan, Armen Grigoryan, and several other detainees being held at the Yerevan Police Department, Tatoyan's office reports.
Tatoyan had private conversations with them, checked detainment conditions and relevant documents. Dissatisfaction with neither the conditions of detention nor the attitude of the PHAP staff was presented. The MPs also raised the question of having a radio to access the news. One was provided. In the case of two detainees, the issue of the right to have telephone access had been raised and resolved.
The Ombudsman's Office has initiated a discussion procedure to implement the full scope of powers envisaged by law. With regard to all matters raised during the conversations, including the grounds for imprisonment, written communication will be directed to the criminal prosecution authorities.
