Hayk Hovhannisyan, a medical doctor and lecturer at Yerevan State Medical University, was beaten by police today when he tried to protect students, who had gone on strike and were staging an anti-government march, from police using force to disperse them.
In the video, Hovhannisyan says he was on his way to work by taxi when he says cops beating some students. He yelled to the police to stop. Five or six officers turned and dragged Hovhannisyan from the car. They beat him even though he offered no resistance. Hovhannisyan suffered a mild concussion as a result.
