Pashinyan and Sarkissian Meet

Protest leader Nikol Pashinyan has posted in Facebook that he met with Armenian President Armen Sarkissian last night and that the two discussed ways to extricate the country from its current political impasse.

Pashinyan says Sarkissian brought documents with him showing that he stopped being a British citizen in December 2011.

Questions had been raised about whether Sarkissian, who had served as Armenian Ambassador to Great Britain and had taken British citizenship, satisfied citizenship requirements to be appointed president.

He was roundly criticized for never presenting documents clearly showing when he renounced British citizenship.
