Saying that no one had the moral right to snatch the people’s victory from their grasp, Prosperous Party of Armenia (PAP) head Gagik Tsarukyan announced that he would not run as a candidate in the election for prime minister, scheduled for May 1 in the parliament and that he and the other PAP MPs would vote for Nikol Pashinyan, the people’s candidate.
Tsarukyan made the announcement in an interview with Kentron TV personality Petros Ghazaryan.
Tsarukyan said that his faction would not, under any circumstance, vote for any candidate put forth by the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA). (Earlier today, RPA spokesman Edward Sharmazanov announced that his party would not nominate a candidate for prime minister)
When asked about the rumors that the RPA would nominate him, Tsarukyan said the RPA was out to sully his good name in the eyes of the people and that the rumors were groundless.
