Armenian President Armen Sarkissian has released a statement saying he’s "pained" that the political crisis in the country is continuing following yesterday’s failure of the National Assembly to elect a prime minister.

“Our attention is focused on the actions of the political forces involved. I call for a continuation of consultations in the coming week to find a way out of the crisis that will serve our common national interests,” Sarkissian’s statement reads.
