Life in the heart of the Armenian capital assumed a more relaxed tone today, despite the continuing political impasse resulting from yesterday’s election by parliament rejected the bid of protest leader Nikol Pashinyan to become prime minister.

Residents turned streets into impromptu playgrounds and bike lanes, while others camped out reading a good book or taking in some rays.

A anti-government rally is planned for 7pm today in Republic Square.
