Republican Party of Armenia Will not Nominate a Candidate In May 8 Prime Minister Election

The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) will not nominate a candidate for the post of prime minister when parliamentary deputies vote on May 8.

Yesterday, the National Assembly voted 56 to 45 against Nikol Pashinyan, the “people’s candidate”.

All opposing votes were cast by RPA deputies. The party ran no candidate of its own.

RPA faction head Vahram Baghdasaryan said his MPs would vote in favor of the candidate endorsed by one-third of the National Assembly.

When asked if he meant Pashinyan, Baghdasaryan didn’t name names
