Throwing out a petition filed by Masis Mayor Davit Hambardzumyan to have his arrest overturned, a Yerevan court today nevertheless released the mayor, charged with organizing and participating in the April 22 assaults against pro-Pashinyan supporters, from pre-trial detention on the promise that he would not flee prosecution.

The court has yet to issue a decision on whether to keep Masis Deputy Mayor Karen Ohanyan, also arrested on the same charge, in detention before his trial.
