Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has picked Narek Ghahramanyan as acting mayor of Kapan, a town of some 35,000 that serves as the capital of Syunik Province.

A geologist by profession, Ghahramanyan replaces Ashot Hayrapetyan, who resigned as mayor on July 7.
