Pashinyan to Relatives of March 1, 2008 Dead: "Those Responsible Will Held Accountable"

At a meeting today with family members of those who died in the post-election violence that rocked Yerevan in March 2008, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the broad parameters of revealing who was responsible for the violence have been achieved and that what remains is to specify who is responsible for each of the ten deaths.

“Naturally, I am not informed as to all aspects of the preliminary investigation process and I can only make conclusions based on the statements made by the head of the Special Investigative Service and related observations. Those statements give us hope that we will have all the details,” Pashinyan told the relatives, adding that exposing all aspects of the case is a matter of honor for the government, for him personally, and for all citizens of Armenia.

“There is no doubt that all the criminals involved in March 1 must be held accountable regardless of who they are and what positions they held in the past or today,” Pashinyan said.

According to a government press release, the relatives of the March 1 victims said that last year’s ‘velvet revolution’ and ongoing political reforms would facilitate the full exposure of what happened.
