Pashinyan and U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton Have "Positive" Talk in Yerevan

Today’s meeting between Acting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and visiting U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton took place in “a very positive climate”, this according to an Armenian government press release.

Pashinyan, in a Facebook post, wrote that he believes there is a real possibility for U.S.-Armenia relations to reach a new level.

The two are said to have discussed a number of issues related to mutual relations, focusing on how the two countries can collaborate to develop democratic institutions, the justice system, and civil society in Armenia.

Pashinyan and Bolton stressed the need to increase the frequency of visits of high-ranking officials between the two countries.

The two also discussed steps to resolve the Karabakh Conflict, and supported the work carried out by the OSCE Minsk Group to reach a peaceful resolution via negotiations.

Ed. – Bolton, regarded by many as a “war hawk”, is a longtime U.S. Republican Party consultant and adviser and a former Fox News commentator. An advocate of regime change in Iran and Syria, Bolton has also called for the termination of the Iran nuclear deal. He also supported the 2003 Iraq War.
