Police have charged an Indian citizen with exploiting employees at an Indian restaurant he operates in Yerevan.

Police have interviewed four Indian restaurant employee who said the owner had reneged on a promise of paying them high wages.

The restaurant owner has since left Armenia.

The employees testified that they were recruited in India and brought to Yerevan, where their passports were seized. They say the restaurant owner inflated the travel expense, telling them they would have to pay the money back.

Cops says the employees were thus forced to work long hours for little or no pay.
