Jirayr Sefilyan to Artsakh President Sahakyan: "Get Ready for Peaceful Regime Change"

New Sasna Tzrer Party Formed in Artsakh: To Work for Union of Armenia and Artsakh

Representatives of the Sasna Tzrer Pan-Armenian Party (STPAP) in Armenia travelled to Artsakh on November 17 to participate in the founding congress of an affiliated body, the Sasna Tzrer Artsakh Party.

The party members from Yerevan arrived in Stepanakert, the Artsakh capital, in a car convoy according to a statement released by the STPAP.

The main goal of the party’s Artsakh affiliate is to work towards the de jure union of Artskah and the Republic of Armenia.

The party’s statement describes the current Artsakh status as “a fake independence” and “anti-Armenian and ridiculous”, and the reason why a separate party had to be founded in Artsakh.

In his concluding remarks, Jirayr Sefilyan (the Lebanese-born political activist who was recently yet again denied Armenian citizenship) said that the Stepanakert underlings of the former regime in Armenia, who were responsible for the January 31, 2015 Berdzor incident (when a Founding Parliament car convoy was blocked and subsequently attacked by Artsakh police and masked special forces near the border town of Berdzor), must be held accountable for their actions.

Sefilyan, who is one of the driving forces behind the STPAP, said that the 2015 incident should not stand in the way of negotiating with the regime of Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan for peaceful regime change in Artsakh.

“Directly addressing Bako Sahakyan, Sefilyan urges him not to leave the hand of Sasna Tzrer, outstretched for this purpose, hanging in the air,” the SDPAP’s statement reads.
