Quarantine has been declared in Chambarak, Martuni, Getik, Aygut communities of Gegharkunik Marz since the beginning of June. The reason was cattle FMD discovered in the end of May in Vahan village bordering with Azerbaijan, as a result the Mayor of Gegharkunik Never Poghosyan had to declare Chambarak a prevention zone – quarantine was imposed from on 8th June.
Barekamavan is a small Armenian village straddling the country's north-western border with Azerbaijan.In the past 20 years since independence, the village has gotten smaller still.
