OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Dunja Mijatović, today expressed concern regarding reports that Armenia’s Special Investigative Service launched a criminal case against Kristine Khanumian, editor of Ilur.am news portal, on charges of deliberate failure to comply with a court order.
Surprisingly, the government press release focused on flight times and cites Abrahamyan saying that flights arriving in the early morning hours are a bane for tourists since they have to wander around the city before the 2 pm hotel check-in.
Maroukyan claims he was tortured by the police into making a confession. He says that police even shot him in the back and that the bullet is still lodged in his body.
