Tens of protesters were detained in Yerevan on Friday when they made it past a police cordon seeking to stop them marching from Liberty Square to the Presidential Palace to demand that the government refrain from signing any Karabakh settlement deal that includes land concessions or the deployment of peacekeepers along the Line of Contact. The protest march was organized by the “We Are the Masters of Our Country” civic initiative.
According to the preliminary findings of a military investigation into the April 21, 2016 death of Spartak Kalashyan, a soldier serving in the Armenian army, has found that he was killed when H. Barseghyan, another soldier, improperly cleaned his weapon, leading to its being discharged and wounding Kalashyan in the head.
