French President Nicholas Sarkozy has again urged Turkey to face up to its history and recognize the 1915 killings of Armenians as genocide, arguing such a move would be a source of pride for Turkey.

Sarkozy was speaking on Wednesday at the annual dinner honoring France's Jewish community.

 Turkey's online news portal ntvmsnbc.com quoted him as saying during the dinner that France had collaborated with the Nazis during World War II, but it later faced that period in history. He reportedly said confronting history will be a source of pride for Turkey as well, Today’s Zaman reports.
