Gruesome Find: Armenian Family Murdered in Javakhk Village

Neighbors have discovered the bodies of a 37-year-old mother and her three children in the Armenian village of Vachian, located near the town of Akhalkalak, Georgia.

Ofelya Kachotyan and her three children, aged 5, 16 and 18, were the only inhabitants of the house. Mrs. Kachotyan’s husband, according to neighbors, is working in Russia.

According to preliminary news reports by Rustavi 2 TV, the family was murdered two day ago. The mother and her two daughters were beaten by a blunt instrument and the boy was strangled.

A village resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told Hetq that the family was of average means, engaging in agriculture and animal husbandry.

Local law enforcement has yet to point to any motive for the murders.

Vachian lies six kilometers from Akhalkalak and a newly opened interstate to the Turkish border passes through village land.
