Dallakyan Says His Rival Violated Residency Laws; Wants Election Annulled

Viktor Dallakyan, who lost the race for the majoritarian seat in parliament from Election District 30, has petitioned the Central Electoral Commission, demanding that it annul the election.

Dallakyan claims that his rival and declared winner, independent candidate Edmon Maroukyan, was not legally eligible to run since he hasn’t resided in Armenia for the past five years as required by law.

Tigran Papayan, President of the district’s electoral commission says that Maroukyan’s documentation is in order, including his residency papers.

Dallakyan has not presented any specific evidence to prove that Maroukyan hasn’t resided in Armenia continuously for the past five years, but points to Maroukyan’s campaign literature saying that he studied at the University of Minnesota in the U.S.
