Tourism Up 48% in Armenia; Mostly from Russia

Russian citizens continue to make up most of the tourists visiting Armenia.

In the first nine months of this year, 1,839,004 tourists visited Armenia. Compared to the same period in 2022, the number of tourists to Armenia increased by 48.4%.

Almost half of them are Russian citizens (47%), about 13% are EU citizens, 10% are U.S. citizens, and 7% are Iranian citizens.

The number of tourists arriving in Armenia in 2022 increased by 90.2%, mainly due to Russian citizens.

According to the methodology of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), an international tourist is considered to be any person who travels for rest, medical treatment, visiting relatives, business, religious or travels for other purposes from their main place of residence to another location for not less than 24 hours and not more than one consecutive year.
