Raffi Responds to Serzh: Let’s Talk

Raffi Hovannisian today has responded to a statement issued yesterday by Serzh Sargsyan.

Sargsyan said there were grounds for talks despite the fact that Hovannisian’s earlier proposals regarding snap parliamentary elections and the handing over of a number of state ministries and other agencies were unconstitutional.

In his letter to Sargsyan Hovannisian writes:

Honourable Mr. Sargsyan,

Yesterday, I received your letter of March 25. I find it positive that you finally responded to my comprehensive proposal in writing.

Even though there are questionable arguments and preconceived convictions in the general formulations, the fact that you are ready to accept my document as a basis for negotiations can be seen as progress.

I reaffirm my willingness to meet you in Liberty Square, at whatever time and in whatever format, and to discuss a pan-national resolution of the issues at hand. I thank you for being concerned about my health. There is no cause for worry. I am quite healthy and have no need of rest. We can, without delay, carry out our working meeting in the name of a constitutional New Armenia.

If, for whatever reason, you deem Liberty Square an inconvenient place to meet, feel free to again write to me, presenting your substantive proposals, which were lacking in your last response, based on my comprehensive document.

With the creed of the homeland and the voice of the people,

Raffi Hovannisian
