Company Owners Lodge Complaint Against South Caucasus Railways

The “Flesh” gasoline importing firm has filed a complaint with Armenia’s State Committee for Economic Competition regarding the practices of South Caucasus Railways (SCR). SCR, a subsidiary of Russian Railways (RZD), took over the operation of Armenian Railways as of June 1, 2008, under the terms of a 30-year concession deal.

The importer of gasoline and diesel fuel, of strategic importance to Armenia, has complained about unwarranted shipment delays and sharp rises in transport fees sought by SCR. “Flesh” has stated in its complaint that SCR is taking advantage of its exclusive monopoly rights. The State Committee for Economic Competition has promised to review the price structure utilized by railway shippers in light of the company’s complaint.
