Israeli Expert: Genocide Bill Won't Make it to Knesset This Year
Artak Grigoryan, an Israeli studies specialist, today commented that Armenians should harbour no great expectations that a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide will be included for debate in the Israeli Knesset.
"Most likely, such a resolution will be forwarded to one of the committees for review and that it won’t come up for a vote till next year some time," Mr. Grigoryan stated. He recalled that similar bills were reviewed during the past three years put never made it to the full parliament. He said that the Israeli Knesset acts based on state interests and that passage of such a bill at the present time is not seen to be in the interests of Israel.
