Armenian National Congress (HAK) parliamentary faction head Levon Zourabyan told reporters today that the party would boycott the election for the next speaker of the parliament to deride the candidacy of Galust Sahakyan, the Republican Party front-runner for the job.

“We find it meaningless to participate in elections organized by the sham majority,” Zourabyan said.

When asked to comment on an earlier statement by Galust Sahakyan that he’d become even “meaner” if elected parliament speaker, Zourabyan said, “In the past six years they have been so mean and crude, putting us in jail, firing our supporters from their jobs, bugging our phones, that I can’t see how they can get meaner towards us.”
