Opposition to Send Videos of Police Brutality in Yerevan to Armenia's PACE Delegation in Strasbourg

MPs from three Armenian opposition political parties chastised the police for employing excessive force to break-up a protest today in Yerevan where opponents sat in the middle of a street to protest another electricity rate hike.

Armenian National Congress (HAK) parliamentary faction secretary Aram Manukyan, Prosperous Armenia MP Elinar Vardanyan, and ARF MP Artzvik Minasyan went to the police station where several protestors had been taken after being taken into custody and had demanded their immediate release.

After leaving the police station, Aram Manukyan told Hetq that they would be sending all video tapings and photos of the cops manhandling demonstrators and illegally detaining them to Armenia’s chief of police.

Manukyan added that the materials in their possession would also be forwarded to the Armenian delegation currently in Strasbourg to participate in the PACE plenary session to be used as seen fit.
