Mariam Gishyan, a mother of five living in Armenia, has asked the Turkish government to grant her refugee status.
Yerevan Mayor Karen Karapetyan, elected to the position a few months ago, has stated that the no new construction in the city will be permitted at the expense of the capital's dwindling green spaces.
On April 21, 2005 the government decided to expropriate the land, some 9,400 square meters, via public domain laws. The area was slated to be developed and the Yerevan Municipality was assigned to complete the work during 2005 to 2009.
