Garen Harutyunyan, the only suspect arrested and charged in the assault of Edik Baghdasaryan, Hetq’s Chief Editor, on November 17, 2008, again claimed in court today that he had nothing to do with the crime.
Other than 20 year-old Karen Harutyunyan, law enforcement has yet been unable to identify the two other individuals who attacked Mr. Baghdasaryan as he left the Hetq offices in the evening on the day in question.
While returning home from work on November 17, 2008, “Hetq” Editor-in-Chief Edik Baghdasaryan was attacked by three individuals as he approached his car. From the start, certain news outlets pointed the finger at Vardan Ayvazyan, the former Minster of Nature Protection who was in Moscow at the time of the incident, as the one who put out a “contract” on Baghdasaryan.
