Readers will remember the story that Hetq broke a few days ago regarding the alleged rape of a 14 year-old girl in Hartashen by village Mayor Azat Ghukasyan.

Hetq had spoken with the girl’s uncle, Gagik, who charged Ghukasyan with sexually molesting his niece on more than one occasion. In addition to serving as Hartashen mayor, Ghukasyan also teaches physical education at the school.

Gagik informs us that Ghukasyan hasn’t been arrested on suspicion of rape and that he and his wife are making the rounds of the homes of students and threatening them to “remain silent”.

Gagik says that the mayor’s son has told some of the male students at the school “to shut up or else”.

Local police have launched a criminal investigation.
