Yerevan, November 25: March to Protest Violence against Women

The Armenian Resource Center will stage a march on November 25 in Yerevan to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The march will kick-off at 1pm from the Avetis Isahakyan statue on Abovyan Street and end at Cinema Moscow.  
Activists have marked November 25 as a day to fight violence against women since 1981.

 

The date derives from the brutal assassination in 1960 of the three Mirabal sisters, political activists in the Dominican Republic, on orders of Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo.
