Golden Apricot Organizers Have Invited Aznavour; Singer's Star to Grace "Walk of Fame"

Organizers of this year’s 10th Annual Golden Apricot International Film Festival, to take place in Yerevan from July 7 -14, say they have invited Charles Aznavour to witness the placing of his “star” at the square that bears his name outside the   Cinema Moskva.

Festival Director Harutyun Khachatryan and RA Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan spoke today at a press conference in the run up to the festival and gave a taste of what is to come.

This year the festival has received around 1100 applications from 94 countries, in comparison to 67 countries last year.

The jury of the international feature film competition will be headed by the celebrated Hungarian director István Szabó.

The international documentary film competition will be headed by the 2012 “Golden Apricot” laureate and illustrious director Sergey Loznitsa.

Addressing the pressing need for more cinema space in Yerevan, Khachatryan said they would try to open the summer hall of Cinema Moskva for film viewing and that a German engineering team had been invited to Yerevan expressly for such work.
