A second round of elections for top posts in one urban and three rural communities was held on November 2nd in the Syunik Marz. The most hotly contested election was for Sisian town Mayor and representatives of the Central Electoral Committee were on hand to observe the vote. Tigran Poghosyan, the ARF-D candidate, had filed an appeal regarding the first round of voting, held on October 12th, and the ROA Administrative Court subsequently declared the election results invalid.

After the Court’s ruling, local Sisian political forces regrouped in support of the Prosperous Armenia Party’s candidate Aghasi Hakobdjanyan, who heads Armentel’s Sisian division. Essentially, despite the presence of six candidates, the election was contested by the representatives of the ARF-D and Prosperous Armenia. Post-election results showed that 7,644 ballots were cast and 125 were registered as invalid. Aghasi Hakobdjanyan received 3,951 votes and Tigran Poghosyan, 3,319.
