Events Marking 90th Anniversary of Silva Kaputikyan Held in Yerevan
On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the birth of beloved Armenian poetess and prose writer Silva Kaputikyan (1919-2006), the official opening of a "house-museum" will take place at the newly renamed Kaputikyan Street #1 address (formerly Baghramyan Lane #1). Fans and friends of the late Armenian poetess will also visit her gravesite at the Gomitas Pantheon in Yerevan.
During her life, Silva Kaputikyan authored over 60 books in Armenian and Russian that were widely translated. She was bestowed with the title of "Honored Art Worker" of Soviet Armenia in 1970 and received a similar honor in Soviet Georgia in 1980. She was also awarded numerous medals In Soviet Armenia and international prizes.
