Armenian PM Wants to Reverse Disparity in Male vs Female Births
Noting that more boys than girls are being born in the country and that this trend doesn’t bode well for future population sustainability, Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan today instructed the ministers of labor and social affairs and health to draft a set of proposals by March of next year to remedy the situation.
“Today, I would particularly like to point out the current disparity in births according to sex. As a citizen, prime minister and the proud father of two girls, this social environment deeply troubles me since we are losing thousands of future mothers,” Abrahamyan stated during today’s cabinet session.
