Armenian Environment Minister and French Ambassador Explore Greater Cooperation

At a meeting today in Yerevan, Armenia’s Minister of the Environment Aramayis Grigoryan and French Ambassador to Armenia Jean-Francois Charpentier exchanged their concerns regarding the risks of global climate change and discussed ways of minimizing such risks.

The two emphasized the importance of the United Nations Climate Change Conference that will be held in Paris at the end of 2015.

Minister Grigoryan expressed hope that collaborative projects between the two countries on the environmental front would increase and, in turn, Ambassador Charpentier suggested organizing a meeting of respective department heads in the near future to draft such an agenda.

Grigoryan suggested cooperation in developing eco-tourism in Armenia, the creation of Specially Protected Natural Areas, and more efficient management of the country’s water resources.
