Police Clear Baghramyan Avenue: Detain 48 Electricity Rate Hike Protesters
Making good on their call to clear Yerevan’s Baghramyan Avenue from demonstrators protesting an electricity rate hike, police moved in at 5:00 this morning and detained 48 individuals.
All were released three hours later.
Police had given the several hundred protesters, who gathered late last night, a 5am deadline to voluntarily clear the avenue.
They then gave the protesters another 30 minutes to leave.
