Armenian Foreign Minister in New York: 'Baku Shows Its Contempt for Human Life'

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan had a second meeting with the Minsk Group Co-chairs in New York and said that Azerbaijan’s attempts to destabilize the situation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan and Artsakh-Azerbaijan borders was rife with unpredictable negative consequences, the responsibility of which, is Baku’s alone.

“With such devious measures, Baku is showing its contempt for human life and for the obligations it has assumed,” Nalbandyan said.

After Nalbandyan’s meeting with the co-chairs, they suggested a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov.

At this meeting Nalbandyan said that it is Azerbaijan which is continually rejecting all initiatives to stabilize the situation and foment mutual confidence.

Nalbandyan placed great importance on a suggestion made by the co-chairs, already approved by Armenia and Artsakh, to create a mechanism by which to investigate all border incidents, arguing that it would greatly facilitate revealing the party responsible for violating the ceasefire.

“Azerbaijan refuses since it wants to keep its hands free, outside the monitoring of the international community, to continue its provocations on the ceasefire line and border,” Nalbandyan said.
