A new program, launched at the beginning of 2015, to include more people in need of free cardiac surgery (stents, etc.) seems to have decreased mortality rates in Armenjia according to the Ministry of Health.

The ministry reports that cardio-vascular ailments account for 48% of deaths in the country.

The ministry reports that deaths from myocardial ischemia and other cardio-vascular diseases in Armenia totaled 6,928 from January-June of this year, down 421 cases from the same period in 2014.

Deaths from myocardial infarctions totaled 4,424 from January-June of this year, down 316 caes from the same period last year.
