Mother's Tetsimony Leads to Criminal Investigation Into Death of Soghomon Kocharyan
Armenia’s Department of Corrections has reported that it has launched a criminal case of “abuse of official authority” surrounding the November 7, 2015 death of Soghomon Kocharyan.
Soghomon Kocharyan was released for health reasons on October 22 after serving 20 years in prison. He died a mere 15 days later in a Yerevan hospital after succumbing to a number of illnesses.
Kocharyan’s mother recently charged Noubarashen prison officials with negligence regarding the worsening medical condition of Soghomon.
She claims that even since 2006, Noubarasehn officials failed to heed her son’s health complaints.
