Police have arrested a suspect in the June 17 murder of a mother and her son at their Gyumri home.

The suspect has a criminal record, according to law enforcement.

Following a tip-off from neighbors that the two individuals hadn’t been heard from for several days and that a foul smell was emanating from their house, Gyumri police investigated and found the bodies of Sirik Hakobyan and her son Sarkis.

The cause of death, according to forensic exams, were blows to the skull, by hammer and shards of glass, inflicted during an argument.

The criminal investigation is ongoing.
