Arshaluys Village Residents Demand Resignation of Mayor
Saying they’ve had enough of Mayor Zarzand Grigoryan, residents of Arshaluys, a village in Armenia’s Armavir Province staged another demonstration calling for his resignation.
Tensions flared when police, according to resident Armen Shahbazyan, attempted to detain some of the demonstrators.
Scores of police and protesters squared off outside the village municipal office, which was locked all day.
MP Taguhi Ghazaryan, an Arshaluys resident, was on the scene trying to deflate tensions.
