In response to a number of complaints received, staffers from Armenia’s Human Rights Defender’s Office paid unannounced visits to the Armavir, Kosh and Abovyan Correctional Facilities.

The staffers spoke to several inmates at each of the penitentiaries who have filed for a review of their court cases or have applied for conditional release.

 Staffers also met with one inmate who’s been on hunger strike since April 3 to protest the court sentence he received.
