Armenian President Nominates March 1, 2008 Lawyer for Constitutional Court
Armenian President Armen Sarkissian has nominated Vahe Grigoryan, a lawyer who has defended the interests of the families of those killed during the March 1, 2008 post-election protests in Yerevan, to fill a vacant seat on Armenia’s Constitutional Court.
The seat has been vacant since last May. Armenia’s parliament has failed to fill the seat on five occasions so far.
President Sarkissian nominated Grigoryan last fall, but the parliament failed to muster a two-thirds vote in his favor.
