Wife of Lernagog Mayor Ran Local Kindergarten for Eleven Years

Surprising as it may seem to many, Lousia Asatryan, who never graduated college, served as director of the kindergarten in the Armavir village of Lernagog for eleven years.

I forgot to mention she’s married to Lernagog Mayor Sargis Margaryan.

According to current law, directors of pre-school establishments must have university degrees and have two years work experience with the past ten years.

Margaryan told Hetq that his wife almost graduated college. He says she dropped out in the final year to take care of the children. Margaryan says that when his wife was appointed kindergarten director there was no college requirement. When the requirement was enacted, the mayor says his wife had been director for four years and periodically attended retraining courses.

“She filed her resignation papers and was dismissed,” says Margaryan, adding that Control Chamber and the Provincial Government investigated the matter and found no violation of the law.

Tigran Margaryan, the mayor’s son, also worked for the municipality at one time, making 193,000 drams a month.

“What? Doesn’t he have a right to work? He was also let go after filing his resignation papers,” Mayor Margaryan told Hetq.
