
Armenian Government Allocates $25.1 Million on Healthcare Sector Improvements
The Armenian government will spend AMD12 billion ($25.1 million) on a package of health sector reform programs.
Some of the money will be used to increase physician salaries and to cover various medical costs.
The number of patients eligible for state-paid cardiac surgery will be increased. These include disabled individuals, family member of war dead, and war veterans.
Some of the money will cover the cost of twelve kidney transplants and eleven bone marrow transplants.
Compensation is also planned for the urgent deficit of emergency surgery (Stent for Life), surgical and thrombolic treatment of acute and/or subcutaneous ischemic stroke and mechanical predictive deficit by the end of the year, with a total of 1.2 billion drams.
Funds will also be spent to purchase modern medical equipment for the children's neurosurgery unit at the Surb Astvatzamayr Medical Center.
