
Company Owned by Nephew of Former MP Wins $2.5 Million in Road Repair Contracts
Armenia’s Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure has signed two road construction contracts, totaling AMD 1.171 billion (US$2.5 million) with a company owned by Armen Badalyan, a nephew of former MP Volodya Badalyan.
The AMD 601 million contract signed on July 12 with A.A.B. Proyect LLC, obligates the company to repair the Vanadzor-Dilijan interstate highway no later than December 10.
A contract worth AMD 570 million was signed with the company on July 17. Under this contract, A.A.B. Proyect must repair the Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan-Azerbaijan interstate highway within four months.
A.A.B. Proyect, founded in 2006, has received government road repair contracts in the past.
This year, the company renovated the interstate highway Vanadzor-Alaverdi-Georgia, and in 2018 the it worked on the M-1-Karmrashen-Zovasar highway with World Bank financing.
