Armenian Foreign Minister Pays Official Visit to Georgia, Meets with Georgian FM Zalkaliani

Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan kicked off his official visit to Georgia today by meeting with his Georgian counterpart David Zalkaliani.

Mnatsakanyan and Zalkaliani, according to an Armenian government press release, broached a number of issues on Armenian-Georgian cooperation. Both sides stressed the importance of the close cooperation between the foreign ministries and highlighted the necessity of periodic sector consultations.

Regarding the realization of the potential of the two countries in the trade and economic sphere, special attention was paid to the results of the 10th session of the joint Armenian-Georgian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Yerevan and Dilijan and the Armenian-Georgian business forum in June.  this area.

Mnatsakanyan and Zalkaliani also appreciated ongoing cooperation in international formats and the strengthening of mutual cooperation and mutual assistance in other multilateral platforms. As EU partner countries, the Foreign Ministers touched upon the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership and exchanged views on the vision of the future of the initiative.

The minister also discussed a number of regional and international issues. Minister Mnatsakanyan described Armenia's approaches and principled position in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process. Both sides underlined that there is no alternative to peaceful settlement of regional conflicts.

At the end of the meeting, the ministers made statements for the press.

Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and his delegation visited the "Heroes" Square in Tbilisi and laid a wreath to the memorial.
