Acting Armenian Police Chief Receieved $93,000 Loan in 2018; Source Remains a Legal Secret

According to his 2018 financial disclosure, Acting Chief of Police of the Republic of Armenia Arman Sargsyan purchased an apartment worth 50.7 million drams and a garage worth 3.3 million drams last year.

Sargsyan was appointed to the post on September 19, a day after Valery Osipyan was dismissed as Armenian Police Chief. (Osipyan was then appointed Chief Adviser to Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan.)

At the beginning of the tax year, Arman Sargsyan's cash assets totaled 12 million drams and US$15,000. By the end of the year, his AMD cash decreased to 4 million and his dollar holdings increased to $17,000.

Sargsyan’s revenues in 2018 included 5.6 million drams in wages and a loan of 44.4 million drams ($93,260)

As the law now stands, Sargsyan is not obligated to reveal the source of the loan. Hetq plans to contact Sargsyan to see if he's willing to provide specifics on the loan.

He also received gifts totaling $13,000 and 100,000 Russian rubles.
