At a press conference today, officials of the Vallex Group mining conglomerate stated that mining operations at Teghout were in full compliance with the environmental laws of Armenia and that the project was the most environmentally responsible to be implemented since the country’s independence twenty years ago.

Vallex Co-President Gagik Arzumanyan told reporters that the company has and will continue to listen to any constructive criticism voiced about the Teghout project and welcomed the input of environmental groups.

Arzumanyan said it was due to the activism of environmentalists in Armenia that the issue of ecological safety has been afforded such attention of late.
