South Caucasus Railway and GeoProMining Gold Sign 2020 Shipping Deal
The South Caucasus Railway (SCR) and the GeoProMining Gold Group of Companies have signed an agreement to coordinate the shipment of gold ore from the Sotk mine to the Ararat Gold Recovery Plant starting in 2020.
The contract envisages a possible increase in the volume of ore transported by 269-kilometer Sotk-Ararat railway in 2020.
This year, 1.5 million tons of ore has been shipped by rail to the Ararat Plant. This is an increase of 10% over 2018.
According to SCR CEO Sergey Valko, GeoProMining Gold is the largest partner of the railway, and gold ore transport accounts for 55% of the company's freight.
